Sacramento, CA: BCA Architects’ team of Emerging Professionals had the privilege of presenting their award-winning design ideas for the revitalization of Winn Park on Thursday, October 26, 2017. The panel included influential property developers and entrepreneurs who have the resources and political equity to make the project a reality.

This was the first step in a long process toward bringing the project to fruition in midtown Sacramento. As participants in a design competition that was facilitated by the American Institute of Architects’ Central Valley Chapter (AIACV), the City of Sacramento and the Midtown Association, the BCA Architects team developed a solution for the reactivation of the site that would make it a destination for residents and visitors. Their design concepts were honored with the grand prize – the key principles of which included a universal design that is walkable, bikeable and encourages use at all hours of the day. The team has been invited to remain engaged throughout the evolution of the project.

Spencer Binkerd, Project Designer at BCA Architects, had this to say about the experience, “We felt that our ideas were well received, appreciated and felt a tremendous amount of support from all parties invested. It was a great opportunity for us emerging professionals to display our ideas and we appreciate the experience above all.” Fellow team members Amanda Menschel, Arturo Ruiz-Martell and Lisa May are equally excited to continue working on this landmark site slated for redevelopment in the central area of the city.
