Palm Springs, CA: BCA Architects’ President, Brian Whitmore, AIA, LEED AP, had the privilege of presenting at the K12 Facilities Forum, an annual, invite-only conference for heads of facilities from the country’s top school districts.
He was invited to participate in a session titled, “Facing the Challenges of Building Public Schools,” which focused on the delivery of education projects, the inherent challenges in the process and creative solutions to overcome them. Topics covered in the presentation included procuring funding, managing risk, fighting construction cost escalation and creating effective design solutions.
Brian presented on a panel alongside Brett Mitchell, Director of Facilities Construction and Modernization, from San Juan Unified School District (moderator); Samer Alzubaidi, Director of Facilities Planning and Development, from Moreno Valley Unified School District; Grace Hartman, Director, from AON Risk Solutions; and Marijke Smit, Senior Vice President, Education, from Project Frog.
