Five new performing arts centers, one in each of the District’s high schools, were designed by BCA for Campbell Union High School District. The performance centers are part of a comprehensive four-year program allowing students to explore multimedia, visual arts, stagecrafts and production while learning the traditional core academic subjects. The new buildings also provide conference facilities for teachers and administration, assembly and lecture space for students and performance space for the communities of Campbell, Saratoga and San Jose.
The highly flexible interior space of each 200-seat theater allows for multiple configurations, from traditional proscenium to black box. Exteriors are designed to fit comfortably into the existing campuses through the use of similar materials, colors and building scale. By designing one building footprint that integrates well within the each of different sites, design and construction costs were greatly reduced.
