The careful integration of the new hospice facility into the fabric of the City of Napa was of paramount importance to BCA and its client. This project is comprised of an 18,500 square foot facility along with a 4,900 square foot overnight stay building.
BCA’s craftsman style design incorporates varied roof lines intermingled with various heights and slopes, resulting in an interesting cluster of volumes. Strong roof overhangs and redwood outriggers enhance the visual interest and human scale of the building. Stucco and stone are used to wrap the building, creating rhythmic variations in the facade and simultaneously giving the building a solid base to rest upon.
The combination of massing, roof lines and materials accentuate the two key entry locations along the entry façade, resulting in a unified building expression.
